皆さん始めまして！

私の名前はシェルビーです。
日本に住んでいる英語インストラクターです。
私はアメリカ合衆国ミズーリ州セントルイスで生まれ育ちましたが、約8年前に日本に移住して英語を教え始めました。
日本での最初の仕事は、千葉の英会話スクールで、幼児からから大人までのすべての年齢層を対象に教えていました。 約3年間働いた後、千葉商科大学の
文化活動やイベントのコーディネーターとしても1年間働きました。イベントコーディネーターとしてはとても楽しかったのですが、自分の情熱は子どもたちを教えることだと気づき、
それ以来東京のインターナショナルスクールで幼稚園教諭として働いています。

子どもたちと一緒にいることが大好きで、小学生、中学生、高校生、大学生、そして大人を含む多くの異なる年齢層を教えるのもとても好きです。
私自身は幼い頃から本を読んだり、さまざまな国の映画やテレビ番組を見たりして楽しんできました。 そんな中でも日本の文化は私にとって特別なものでした。
中学から高校にかけて、日本語と日本文化を学ぶことへの興味は徐々に高まり、大学生の時にアジアに留学することを決心し、１学期を日本の大阪、
そしてタイのホアヒンで過ごしました。

英語は世界中で主要な言語の1つになり、英語を学ぶことで多くの扉が開かれ、グローバルなコミュニケーションと理解が深まり、私たちを豊かにする機会が増えると確信しています。

私のクラスではリラックスしたストレスのない環境で英語を話せる機会を提供することを目指しています。また、間違いを恐れずに英語を話せるように
生徒に伝えていきたいと思っています。
私も日本語を勉強していて、話すときにミスをすることが多いので、他の言語でのコミュニケーションが難しいことをとても理解しています。
だからこそ、インストラクターとして生徒たちを理解しできる限りサポートしたいと思っています。

もちろん、子ども一人で、または親と一緒にレッスンに参加して受講することもできます。
子ども向けレッスンでは、子どもが英語を話すのを楽しくするために、子ども一人ひとりの興味に合わせてカスタマイズしながら学習を進めていきます。

Hello everyone and welcome!

My name is Shelby and I am an English Instructor living in Japan. I was born and grew up in St. Louis, Missouri
in the United States of America. I moved to Japan to live and teach English about 8 years ago. My first job in Japan was teaching
at an English conversion school in Chiba for all ages from preschool to adults. After working in the English Conversation School
industry for about 3 years, I took a job as a cultural activities and events coordinator for the Chiba University of Commerce for a year.
I had a lot of fun as an events coordinator, but realized that my passion was working with children. Since then,
I have been working as a kindergarten teacher at an International School in Tokyo.

While I love teaching and being with children I also enjoy teaching many different age groups including elementary school, junior high, high school, university students, and adults. From a young age I have enjoyed reading books and watching movies and TV shows from different countries. Although I enjoy learning about many different cultures, Japanese culture really stood out to me.
Throughout junior high and high school my interest in learning the Japanese language and culture gradually grew. Eventually,
when I was a university student I decided to study abroad in Asia and spent a semester in Osaka, Japan and then Hua Hin, Thailand.

I have always loved learning different languages because it opens up so many opportunities to connect and learn about many different kinds of people. English has become one of the major languages learned and used throughout the world and
because of this I strongly believe that by learning English, it can open many doors and allow for better global communication and understanding,which can also lead to more opportunities to enrich our lives.

One thing that I have come to notice, since living and teaching English in Japan, is that while most Japanese people have a very basic understanding of written English, they are not able to speak or communicate well with foreigners. I believe this is due to the lack of opportunities for Japanese people to meet and interact with foreigners and practice speaking English.

I want to give my students the chance to be able to speak English in a relaxed and stress free environment and I also want to encourage my students to try speaking English without being afraid to make mistakes. I am also learning Japanese and make many mistakes
when speaking, so I understand how difficult it can be to communicate in another language.
That is why as an instructor I want to support my students as much as I can.

We can have a relaxed lesson and discuss the students' hobbies or interests or if you are more advanced and would like to study more specific subjects related to your business or job we can create a customized curriculum just for you! Of course, children are also welcome to join and take a lesson either alone or with a parent. Children's Lessons can also be customized to the child’s interests, in order to make speaking English enjoyable for the child.

If you are feeling hesitant to try and speak English don’t worry! I will do my best as your instructor, so that you can enjoy a fun
and light-hearted conversation without worry. Let’s have fun practicing English together! I look forward to meeting you!
